What do I wear?
Anything you would normally wear to go for drinks, or a date, something that makes you feel good. Remember although its technically a singles event, its just a bar not a wedding or Christmas party so don’t stress!! Just wear something you feel comfortable in….but not so comfortable that it looks like you have just finished the decorating. If feeling good means jeans and a top, then perfect. If its a little black dress then go for it. If its trousers and a shirt combo then that’s great too, there aren’t any rules, just make a bit of an effort.
What time shall I get there?
As soon as you can really, its nice if you can get yourself a spot and relax with a couple of drinks. People tend to chat to each other that get there early so don’t be afraid to be keen, it fills up really quickly.
Do people come on their own?
Typically most of our lovely singletons come in twos or threes however often people do come alone. We would suggest if you are without a wingman not come down first thing so that its not as noticeable. However if you are confident enough to be a single person in a room FULL of single people then come when you like. Everyone chats to everyone so you wont be on your own for long. If you don’t have any single friends to come with then how about suggesting a bubbly chatty friend of yours that is already in a relationship as a Meddler. What actually happens on the night?
As you may have guessed by now, we are a singles event that doesn’t like to be called a singles event. Like with any bar really its full of people having a laugh and socialising. However because everyone knows why they are there it seems to encourage everyone to chat to each other, it’s a really great atmosphere. Even the most shy single people can be seen chatting and flirting! As the room fills up the music is kept low so that everyone doesn’t have to shout over loud music as if you are in a club. Later in the night when people are more ready for a dance the music is turned up a little and everyone (who isn’t chatting or passing numbers) hits the dance floor to shake their thing.
What is it with these Meddlers, how do I know who they are? What do they do?
To be honest a room full of singletons should be enough for you but if you do need a bit more help the Meddlers are on hand to help. Meddlers are trained by ninjas, spawn of Cilla Black with a mission to hook you up with someone that you may be too shy to approach or even maybe suggest people to you that might be of interest. They may also tell you that a sexy single someone has their eye on you too. They are identifiable by a large M around their neck and will be scattered around the venue chatting to everyone. If being in a room of over singletons doesn’t give you the confidence to make the first move, they can do the hard work for you….beware though that some of them are single too so watch out that they aren’t just Meddling themselves a date.
